Who chooses the medical transport company?
• When the transport is organized by a health establishment and at its financial expense, it chooses the medical transport company.
• When you have to organize the transport yourself, you can freely choose the company that will take care of the transport in compliance with medical indications and prescriptions.
In some situations, you may be able to obtain coverage of all or part of the transport costs:
Prescribed by a doctor, ambulance transport is generally reimbursed at 65%.
The remaining 35% may be covered by your mutual insurance company or will remain your responsibility.
In some cases, particularly in the context of Long-Term Conditions (ALD) and other cases provided for by law, the coverage by Health Insurance of transport costs is 100%.
During the transport, our ambulance drivers will have you sign a document that will allow you, in most cases, to be exempted from paying the costs in advance (third-party payment).
Find all the information on the coverage of your medical transport on the Social Security website: www.ameli.fr
• You must have a Medical Prescription for Transport (PMT) issued by your doctor before contacting us (Article R322-10-2 of the Social Security Code). This prescription allows your doctor to define the transport conditions as well as the terms of reimbursement by Health Insurance.
• Prepare your vitale card, your identity card and your mutual insurance card.
• Also take your summons as well as your medical file (current prescription, latest blood results, etc.).
Do not hesitate to inform us of any special precautions for your transport (need for oxygen, no elevator, immobilization of a limb, etc.) so that our ambulance drivers can take care of you in the best conditions.
